Vertical Spun Aluminum Oil Bag

Posted: 21 Nov 2010 01:16 PM PST

Some like it vertical, others horizontal.  Either way, tanks have to work.  Which is apparent with the oil tanks from the guys at 7 Metal West.  The tank is made from two .125″ thick aluminum halves and measures 9″ tall and is 5.375″ round (including ribs).  The tank is fully TIG welded and pressure tested to 20 psi.  Each tank comes in a standard brushed finish.  There are 2 options for the filler neck and  a choice of push-in style or screw cap which gives you choices too. All of the oil tanks are spun for maximum durability.  Price is $405.00 and every tank is made to order. You can check the work of 7 Metal west here.

BackStreet Havoc Magazine Choked Us Up

Posted: 20 Nov 2010 05:52 PM PST

We first came across Backstreet Havoc when they “liked” us on Facebook.  Granted with over 5000 friends, we didn’t really pay attention to another magazines requesting to be friends, however we went ahead and approved the link. Not until recently did we go back and study the information about this publication that we got all choaked up, misty-eyed and sentimental. They like stuff we like! WOW!

Backstreet Havoc is a new full color magazine dedicated to the Retro Bobber and Old School Chopper Motorcycle Enthusiast and covers the spectrum of Retro Bikes, Hot Rods, Pin Ups, Rallies, Rockabilly Events, Music, Tattoos, Art.  From what we can tell the mag gives a complete lifestyle and culture mix in the motorcycle world with a local Garage Style twist.  Not bad for a new magazine. This quarterly magazine has a winter, spring, summer, and fall issue and sells for $5.99 on the news stands. You can download a .pdf file of their first issue before it hits the stands too.  So take a look.  You may even shed a tear. Check them out HERE.

Young Riders Suffering More Brain Injuries

Posted: 19 Nov 2010 10:05 PM PST

Whether you agree with helmet laws or not, some facts need to be reviewed and considered by everyone. Take a look at this article published online Nov. 15 in Pediatrics where finding show that in 2006, about 25 percent of all traumatic brain injuries sustained in motorcycle crashes involving 12- to 20-year-olds resulted in long-term disabilities.  And patients with serious head injuries were at least 10 times more likely to die in the hospital than patients without serious head injuries. One study looked at the number of head injuries among young motorcyclists and the medical costs; the other looked at the impact of laws requiring helmet use for motorcycle riders, which vary from state to state. You can read more HERE.

Licks Clip-On’s

Posted: 19 Nov 2010 06:02 PM PST

The guys at Licks Cycles have released these cool Clip-On Bars which were previously seen on the company's show-stopping "LC FUELIE" machine.  These Road Race-inspired bars provide a whole new dimension for today's custom builders (and we’re liking them for one of our next builds already).  Licks Clip-Ons are precision-crafted from high quality aluminum stock, machined to competition-spec tolerances. A straight forward fit, the Clip-Ons simply slide over and clamp onto stock 39mm fork tubes and are completely adjustable. Whether you mount them low, under the top tree, or mount them high above the tree by going with slightly longer fork tubes these are some cool bars to have on a bike. The kit comes complete with 1-in. x 12-in. adjustable bars, billet bar clamps and mounting hardware. Licks offers a variety of style options with prices starting at just $199.00 for the complete kit. Call Licks direct at 413-663-9050 or catch them at the website here.

Guilty’s 67 Shop truck takes on new attitude

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 11:01 AM PST

If you’ve been a follower of ours for any period of time, your probably aware that we’d started a project over 9 months ago on a 1967 C-20 Chevy long bed truck. Having scaled down from the dually we had, we still needed something to shag parts, haul the dog around in and just look cool driving around at events, dates with the wife, etc, right??!? Anyway, the truck has taken on a totally new direction from the original rendering and as you can see, a new attitude to boot.  Adding a set of 20″ Billet Specialties Smoothies to some low profile tires definitely changes the “tude” as does the new paint scheme developed by Lawrence Gardinier.  Anyway,  if your wanting to follow this build further, check out the forum we’re on HERE.

Guilty Customs GC1200R BMW Bagger

Posted: 04 Nov 2010 11:38 PM PDT

While it’s not common knowledge to the general motorcycle industry or those that know or follow us, we hold a deep dark secret here at Guilty. We’re closet BMW riders. Yep, we said it! And we’ve ridden clear across the USA with our wife along with other long distance rides too!  This secret had gotten bigger than we were initially able to handle so we eventually had to seek counseling and am coming clean as part of our therapy here in this blog. And in acknowledging our attraction to BMW’s, it has inspired us to take a leap in the prototype field by producing this raked, stretched and lowered BMW bagger which sports some major fabrication work. Taking cues from traditional v-twin customs, yet retaining the major styling points of the original bike (which is a 2004 R1200CL), we teamed up with renowned fabricator and artist Bob Thrash of  Thrash Designs to put our ideas down on paper.

In approaching this project, we know that 1) we’re treading where few, if any, have dared to venture by basing this build off of a conservative touring BMW bike 2) We will more than likely be dealing with those that see this as an ill conceived project, 3) addressing some of the limitations of the bike….(The first being to overcome the paltry horsepower issue by incorporating turbo’s into this project). 4) we’re building a bike that BMW is interested in getting more information about 5) we believe this build will stir the imagination of the BMW market and show them you can make a stylish bagger regardless of the platform.  So here is what we’ve come up with so far.

Guilty’s “1/2 Pint” Takes Tour of Spain

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 02:38 PM PDT

Part of a builders level of personal satisfaction (aside from their own satisfaction of building something with their own hands) is that there is some industry acknowledgement of their work.  Granted we’ve had our share over the past years here at Guilty, (thanks Jimmy) and we’re actually suprised each and every time something is written about a bike, product or us specifically. Recently there has been some renewed interest in two of Guilty’s bikes which have been featured in magazines outside the USA market place. First was the “Errant 2″ bike which was built for Ash Spurlin, which was featured last month and now, one of our favorite’s “1/2 Pint” which is showing up in Xtreme Bikes Nov/Dec issues in Spain (and Europe).  I guess you can say we’re doing out part for international relations by building bikes people like outside our home country…either that or they’ve just got really good taste in bikes.  Either way, thanks Xtreme Bikes for giving a “nod” to our efforts.
