Police Scooters?

Posted: 07 May 2011 03:31 PM PDT

With demanding economics, resource depletions, government cutbacks and rising crime, municipalities are looking under every rock and in every cave for solutions.  Seems they may have found some sort of reprieve, in a little scooter.  While it’s not something we’d imagine bringing respect (or fear) to the criminal element, it’s at least one solution for rising fuel costs and maintenance issues. California Scooter Company (CSC) announced the addition of a police version to its popular line of small made-in-America motorcycles. California Scooter Company's new police motorcycle, designated the CSC-150P, is available in a standard black-and-white paint scheme, with other department colors available on a special order basis.  Standard equipment includes a calibrated speedometer, windshield, storage rack, saddlebags, siren, engine guards, and police lighting.

"We are providing a ready-to-roll small police motorcycle,"said Steve Seidner, CSC Motorcycles President and CEO.  "We can add department-specific graphics, and we offer options on the types of police motorcycle equipment we provide.  Our mission is to meet each law enforcement organizations' precise requirements at an economical price with a US-manufactured product."

"We've heard the stories about not being able to start if the strobe lights are left on, the $300 tires, the chafing brake lines, the overheating, and the $1200 clutch replacements on other police bikes," said Joe Berk, CSC’s police and military sales manager.  "There's none of that here.   This bike routinely delivers over 90 miles per gallon, its operating costs are low, we've proven its durability with a run up and down the Baja peninsula during the hottest month of the year, and the public loves it."
